SGdP has a long tradition in the repair and conversion of all types of ship. Thanks to its position in the Port of Genoa and its proximity to a major Mediterranean cruise terminal, over the years the company has focused mainly on the passenger shipping sector (cruise liners and ferries), completing many major projects and gaining extensive experience in the area.
Over the past 30 years, the shipyard has expanded into every segment of the market, ranging from commercial vessels, such as cargo ships, tankers and LNG/LPG carriers to military vessels and large offshore units.
Against the backdrop of an ever-changing market and shipowner tendency to build increasingly large vessels, the shipyard made the decision to take over larger facilities in France – Chantier Naval de Marseille (CNdM).
The proximity of the shipyards to two of the largest cruise terminals in the Mediterranean, combined with extensive experience acquired over the last century, as well as their complementary facilities (Dry Dock No. 10 in Marseille is 465m long and 85m wide), allows SGdP and CNdM to undertake every type of project and manage even the most complex projects on any type of vessel, whether it concerns super-sized containers and offshore platforms or large LNG and passenger ships.
SGdP has the know-how required to undertake the repair and maintenance of Navy command ships. These operations include: removal of bulges, replacement of PRC decking, redesign of shared technical environments
(galleys, kitchens and storerooms) according to SOLAS / ABS standards, boiler repair, maintenance and special treatment of aircraft carrier flight decks.
